Gates of Europe explores one of Europe's most pressing and polarising issues: border protection, migration and human rights.

Filmed over 3 years with access to Frontex, this 4-part documentary series follows those working within Europe's border system alongside the people most affected by it. From the Executive Director of Frontex to survivors, activists and humanitarian aid workers, the series brings together perspectives that rarely meet, revealing the human stories behind a debate too often reduced to headlines and statistics.

Can Europe protect its borders without violating human rights?

Gates of Europe (Poorten van Europa) was made after three years of access to Frontex. The series brings together the perspectives of border guards, policymakers, activists and survivors. Every claim and title card is supported by at least two independent sources. The accountability was written by the makers and journalists behind the series and published by VPRO.
