De Spookvoetballer

He faked his way into pro football. Then he tried to stop the story from being told.

Bernio Verhagen wanted to be a professional footballer. He didn't have the talent, so at 25 he made up a new identity instead: Jordan Verhagen.
It worked. 4 professional clubs around the world signed him. Keeping the lie going took more and more deceit and manipulation, and the football career turned out to be only the tip of the iceberg.
Just before the premiere, Verhagen went to court to try to stop the broadcast. The judge ruled in favour of the series. The story will be told.
DE SPOOKVOETBALLER is a three-part docuseries by Scenery for BNNVARA.
